DAY 7: Favorite Movie(sss)

I read a question for a poll today on LinkedIn, “When you’re trying to SEARCH INFORMATION, which one do you USE MOST; Google Search, AI Search (ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini), TikTok Search, or others?”

More than half of the voters still chose Google Search and I voted for AI Search, but this poll left me thinking. I use different apps for different kinds of information. While AI Search is useful for information that I don’t expect Google to provide, TikTok is useful for finding places or food recommendations. It’s the kind of information I seek, not the platform I like the most.

The same thing applies when it comes to movies. Sometimes I just wanna watch something that doesn’t require me to think. Other times, I need something to trigger my brain. And when I know a movie can take my emotions on a roller coaster, I’ll watch it when I have enough energy. But mostly, TBH, I can get attached more easily to mob movies, like Goodfellas, The Godfather, and Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. I’m starting to think I like things that speak in codes, signs, and hidden meanings.

It could be why I can’t choose one specific movie as my favorite. It can range from 12 Angry Men, A Sun, Aftersun, Barbie, Capharnaüm, Cinema Paradiso, Dune 2, Interstellar, IT, Kill Bill, Lady Bird, Maharaja, Minari, Nebraska, Satu Kakak Tujuh Ponakan, The Irishman, Wake Up Dead Man (I could really make the list longer than this entire blog post), to famous franchises like the MCU or Star Wars. Oh! I also watch documentaries. It’s usually about famous serial killers, nature (like Our Planet), or Philomena Cunk’s documentaries, but if you ask me which one is the most memorable, I guess it’ll be Fear City: New York vs. the Mafia.

Well, if I had to name one movie I’ve liked lately, it would be Ghost in the Cell (except those few minutes that triggered my trypophobia).

Anddd, if I can recommend one movie for you to watch (and I’ll watch again), it’s Capharnaüm. I mean, have you ever wondered how hard your life must be for you to be a 12-year-old kid suing your parents because they had you?
