Actually this isn’t for everyone (or every dogs) to read. So, read at your own risk. This is a letter to Artenyx, if only I can send it to doggo heaven. Let me use my messy letter writing here, so that she can’t read it easily.

Hey, Nyxxxxxx! (should be that big bcs I missed ya a lot!)
I’ve known you longer than you have ever lived now. It’s been four years since you were gone, while we only got to celebrate your life three times.
Unlike you, who stayed at home ur entire life, ur 3 ‘juniors’ have been to many places, they went to Jogja once, Borobudur Temple’s parking lot (yep, it’s that specific), Temanggung, Cirebon, two times to Indramayu, Lembang, a few cafés in Bogor and Sentul, basically everywhere you’d never been to.
I once feel bad because you were so smart and cute looking, but you never got to go anywhere to have a trip with us. Well, fuck the viruses, both Covid and Parvo. Although after a few thoughts, I think it’s for the best. Because if you’re still here, then Yuko will be abandoned elsewhere and Molly will still be kicked or thrown under the sink.
Well, the thing is, I still miss you sometimes, but I’m glad that you’re literally etched in my calf. So that wherever I walk, I can have u (visually) with me. I can talk to u even if it looks like I’m talking to my calf. I currently have a small bump on your nose, like it’s asking for a boop.
But you know what, sometimes I’m crying but among your sisters, no one’s coming over because they don’t understand my tears like you did.
Dad’s also doing well, but no one sits in your “throne” in the car, on Dad’s lap. We can laugh about how cute you looked like now. He even can’t tell when it’s you in the pic instead of Molly!
Yep, Molly is looking a lot like you, just with a wilder set of tooth. And I didn’t teach her anything except sit, lay down, and spin. Maybe I still couldn’t bear to teach the same-looking dog twice
I’m also starting to like Yuko’s smell, just like I did to you. Yuko once smelled like a stranger when her arrival came almost instantly after your death. She’s looking at me now while I’m typing this, as if she smells what I’m cooking here.
Kyoto is bossing everyone around like you did. Remember how she always barked when I told her to spin? She’s still doing it now. Yuko and Molly really thought it was part of the instruction, so they do it too wkwk. A bit bodoh 근데 정말 재미있어요!
Oh! I hope you meet Pru, dat beautiful old lady who lived under the stairs. Yea, the one you used to bark at. She went to doggo heaven too last November.
Thanks to you, all of these kids r now vaccinated regularly every year. Dr. Dafi asked me how old Kyoto is, “Five years old, almost six,” I said. “Oh, you still have 10 years with her,” he replied, followed by a big amen from me. Maybe Kyo will say amen too if she can talk. Unfortunately, she can only bark at night when I keep putting off my bath and scrolling my phone instead. Like, literally. That’s probably her hidden skill that you didn’t have.
But hey, always be a good girl there, ok? Don’t forget the sit, stay, lay down, shake hand, spin, and catch I taught ya, so when we meet again, I know it’s you. Daym, I almost cried there. So, adios por ahora, kyootzie!
