Let’s not talk about my immediate family, like Mom or Dad, because what I understand from the prompt is someone I had a puppy love for.
His name starts with K (not Kevin). We met in kindergarten, then we parted ways after primary 3, right after I had the best year and met my favorite teacher, Miss B. There aren’t many things I remember about us anymore. But in those years, we often sat together, played tag and chased each other during recess, fought, and the classmates often teased us whenever we sat together, because the empty seat beside me was basically his seat.
My crush on him was reciprocated, and even our parents noticed that. But then again, we’re just children, texting was the only thing that connected us that time after he moved. Eventually, time passes and life happens. When Facebook was invented (OMG, am I really that old?), we reconnected and talked a little more, but we just didn’t have much in common anymore. This year, I searched for his online accounts and figured out that little kid I was madly in love with is now a father to a cute girl. I felt happy and relieved that he’s doing well.
p.s.: Of course the image in the header is not us, it’s the meme children. S/o to Chloe and Gavin!
